Creating an App Password
What is an app password?
An app password is a code that acts as a temporary password, that gives an app or device permission to your Prosperity Now account. It will only be used once, and you will not need to memorize it. App passwords are used for older apps or third-party clients that do not support two-step verification. A few examples would be any iOS email app (Apple) or Android email apps. The purpose of an app password is to enable Multi-factor authentication (MFA), which provides an additional layer of security for your work account.
Steps for creating an app password
Go to portal.office.com
Click on your picture/initials on the top right corner and select account
Select Security & privacy
Select additional security verification
Select create and manage app passwords
Select create an app password
Use the password displayed and your PN email to login to the app
Additional Information
App passwords can’t be retrieved after they are created. It is much easier to create a new app password rather than retrieving an old one. You can also create multiple app passwords for different apps. To create another app password, follow the steps above.
