Anonymous Experience

Anyone can join the meeting as an anonymous user by clicking the link in the meeting invitation or dialing into the conference line. Anonymous users do not have access to the chat box or files transferred during the meeting and can only speak and view. If the recipient is unfamiliar with the use of Microsoft Teams, below are multiple methods to join a meeting.

Be sure to check your Check your personal/work email for the Teams Meeting invite. The email would look like the image below.

Any Teams meeting can be joined through a supported browser such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome via Teams web application. This is particularly useful for recipients who do not have Teams installed on their computers or are hesitant to install a program they are unfamiliar with.

Note that Teams web app is not supported in Firefox and Chrome does not support video sharing as of 4/11/2019. Screen sharing is only supported in the client app (Method 3).

Method 3 – Teams Client application

If you do not have Teams installed on your computer and want the full functionality, such as screen-sharing, we recommend downloading the client app.

Note that Teams does not need administrative privileges and can be downloaded on to a computer without IT support.

  1. Once you have found the invitation link sent via email, click on the Join Teams Meeting link.
  2. Then select download the Windows App.

  4. Once you have joined the meeting, Teams will also need to send outbound communications, click Allow access when you are prompted.
